we are pilgrims on this journey
Peru Pilgrimage
As part of our shaman training, we traveled with our tribes to Peru to experience Plant Medicine and participated in three Ayahuasca ceremonies. The sacred songs known as Icaros which the shamans sing during the ceremony were an inspiration to us. We also visited the archaeological site of Caral where it was discovered that commerce, not war, is the foundation of human community.
Animal Connections
Connection to the Animal World is an important part of Shamanic work. DeVorah met with a wolf pack at Shadowland Foundation and was able to share their amazing energy. At a training in up-state New York, she was blessed to wear Prajna’s black bear hide and took that energy in through her skin.
Australian Pilgrimage
We spent three weeks in Australia and New Zealand where we trekked and searched for drums and digeridoos. We spent time in Darwin visiting the cave paintings, awed with the beauty of these prehistoric landscapes.
South of France
Devorah was called to connect with Mary Magdalene and traveled with Dr. B. Raven Lee as a teacher trainee to help her with her European Tribes. As a wise man once said, “you never know what you know until you try to teach it.” One very warm afternoon, we visited the Chapelle du Vallon (seen above) tucked away in a larger church and said prayers to the Black Madonna.
Healing Our Community
Scott with bowls and gongs and a bamboo choir at a Sound Healing for the Neighborhood Church in Pasadena — our hometown. This was a Sunday service dedicated to the idea of Magic in our lives and Two Wings Healing provided the soundtrack and an opportunity for many people to hear these instruments for the first time.
Burning Man
Scott designed and constructed a mobile percussion orchestra which became part of the processional of Burning Man 1991. The Black Rock Desert made us feel like tiny specks in a big, beautiful Universe.
Nepal Pilgrimage
In Kathmandu Valley we studied Sound Healing with singing bowl master Santa Ratna Shakya and visited his factory to watch the Full Moon Singing Bowls being made by hand under a full moon. We hiked to Kalinchok Temple and saw cremation ceremony at Pashaputinath Temple. At dinner one night we were told the creation story by Bola, a well-known local shaman.
Bali Pilgrimage
These Gamelan instruments were built for us in 1987 by I Made Gaberleran at the Sidha Karya Gong Foundry in the town of Blahbatu in central Bali. Along with losing our shoes on the midnight bus to Bali from Java, we experienced dances in the forests, Wayang Kulit shadow puppet plays in roadside villages and Komodo Dragons.
Late Bloomers & Sister Moon
The Late Bloomers is our band with Gayle Bluemel and Dan Ames. We have a long and deep connection and have played from Southern California to Washington. DeVorah and Gayle are songwriting partners as Sister Moon.
